From Chaos to Calm: 8 Simple Steps to a Clean and Tidy Home

We all know that keeping your home clean is a marathon – not a sprint. Between cleaning and then cleaning the tools that you use to clean, it almost feels impossible to catchup. Below are 8 things that I do to make sure that my house has a “baseline” clean. What I mean is, that even if the laundry is piling up or the shelves are a little dusty, I do these 9 things that make those big reset days just a little bit easier.

1. I always load the dishes right after I use them!

Skip the sink full of dirty dishes! Load them straight into the dishwasher after you use them. It’s a one-minute task that saves future you from a mountain of dishes!

2. I like to fold laundry while watching TV

Multitasking at its finest! Fold a load of laundry while you’re catching up on your favorite show. You’ll be surprised at how much you can accomplish while being entertained.

3. Everything at home has its own “home”

Designate a specific “home” for every item in your house. This keeps clutter at bay and makes putting things away so much easier for everyone in your home. Find a system that works for you – there are no rules here!

4. Make the bed every day

Start your day with a sense of accomplishment! Making your bed takes just a few minutes, but I promise you will feel better afterwards!

5. Wear slippers instead of shoes in the house

Say goodbye to tracked-in dirt! Slip on some comfy slippers when you’re indoors. It keeps your floors cleaner and saves you the hassle of constantly vacuuming. Or if you are like me, it gives my robot vacuum a well-deserved break!

6. Make the cleaning easier by keeping a cleaning caddy in each room

Be prepared to tackle any mess, anywhere! Stock cleaning supplies in each room where they are most needed. For example, keep extra trash bags in the bathroom, and cleaning wipes under every sink!

7. Habit Stacking chores

Be a chore-stacking champion! Combine quick tasks for maximum efficiency. For example, wipe down the bathroom counter while your coffee brews. Every little thing you can do makes all the difference!

8. Lastly, my favorite one yet – keep a dish wand in the shower!

Make the most of your shower time! Keep a dish wand in the shower. While the hot water steams, you can quickly tackle soap scum and grime on shower walls. Plus this gives you some extra time to take in the hot water (who doesn’t love a hot shower lol)
